December 30, 2012 - Rosemary "Tommy" Corey
Obit: Deposit Courier
Rosemarie T. (Tommy) Corey, age 84, of Deposit, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, New York.
Tommy loved to read and was an avid nature lover who enjoyed hiking, canoeing, watching birds, and tending to her flower gardens. She had an open and friendly nature that made it easy for her to meet people and make new friends. She was a member of the Finger Lakes Trail Conference for ten years and with her friend Gerri Davidson, was a volunteer trail worker. Their section of the trail was always well-marked and meticulously maintained. She also loved attending musical performances at the Bainbridge Town Hall Theatre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Finger Lakes Trail Conference.
From Ed Sidote:
Yes, I knew her quite well as she arranged for me to put on FLT slide shows in Deposit.   She was an excellent Trail Steward for years on the FLT.
From Jim Dewan:
She and Garaldine Davidson worked the section between Dry Brook Road and the Reservoir. This was before the Dry Brook leanto was built on that section.
"Our" Interloken Trail and the Finger Lakes National Forest are the subject of a pretty nice article in American Forests magazine. The author, Steve Bailey, is a former NY Times editor. Please see the link below. Lynda Rummel
Steve Catherman announced the placing of a new bridge built in the classroom shop and transported to its current location on the trail.

Terrific videos or the Sidote Bench dedication have been posted by John Elia:

January 25, 2012 - FLTC and the Passport Program
Gene Bavis & Jacqui Wensich presented a PowerPoint show at the beautiful new Williamson Library, sponsored by "Trail Works, Inc." a local hiking group. Three end-to-enders were present along with a very enthusiastic (and large) group. Some of the turn out was due to Gene & Liz Bavis' popularity in those parts.
