Alley Cat Crews work on major trail construction projects. These projects may require months of advanced planning and preparation and the projects themselves may take from several days to a week. They involve construction of trail infrastructure such as lean-tos and bridges, and major trail building or rerouting.  Crews are organized by the FLTC’s Director of Crews & Construction. Projects are done with assistance and local coordination provided by the Trail Sponsoring organization or individual.
Although Alley Cat means "Alle-gany to the Cat-skills," Alley Cat crews work on branch trails, too.

The first Alley-Cat of the 2016 season will be held in Cattaraugus County Friday, May 6 thru Wed. May 11. Friday is check-in time. If enough volunteers come forward we will split into two groups.
First priority: repairing the trail as it crossess a nasty ravine on M3 at A.P.12. This is at N.Y. 240 at Fancy Tract Road. The idea is to install a 24 foot kingpost bridge and 100 feet of boardwalk. The site is only 600 feet from an access drive and so will be pretty easy.
Priority # two: Put in a new trail between Fourth St. and the Pat Mcgee Rail Trail on M2. We lost owner permission last year between AP. 5 and A.P.6. Just to the North is Elkdale State Forest, home to our new 1.75 mile section. The route is flagged and most of the route is moderate. Little "benching" is required. If you have never done this type of work before it will be a great learning opportunity under Master Trail Installer Marty Howden.
Lodging will be in Allegany State Park. with food provided
