The Finger Lakes Trail Conference encourages our members and friends to hike the entire Finger Lakes Trail from End-to-End, about¬†580 miles. In recognition of that accomplishment, we will present you with an engraved name badge, two ‚ÄúEnd-to-End‚ÄĚ patches and a certificate. You will also be recognized on the Main Trail Awards¬†on this website and in our newsletter, the Finger Lakes Trail News.
You need not through-hike the Trail, and there is no set time limit to becoming an End-to-Ender. Some folks have taken many years to reach their goal. You also don‚Äôt have to be a backpacker or sleep out on the trail to qualify. But remember, the hike must be on foot, and Yes, you can stash a bike to ride back to your vehicle.¬†Notify the FLTC End-to-End Coordinator that you are on this quest of if you have any questions.
The FLTC also recognizes hikers who complete all of the FLT Branch Trails which include the Conservation Trail, Letchworth Branch Trail, Crystal Hills Trail, Bristol Hills Branch Trail, Interloken Trail, and Onondaga Trail, for a total of about 380 miles. If you aspire to hike the FLT or Branch Trails from End-to-End, we encourage you to contact the End-to-End Coordinator. We would like to know you are involved, and may be able to offer you assistance.¬†
Maps are also available from the FLT Store. At the very least, you will want to acquire the maps for the sections you plan to hike. There are 33 maps in the Main Trail set and 20 in the Branch Trails set. They can be purchased individually, or as a set for a reduced price. FLTC members can purchase maps at a discount.
Hikers: The FLTC keeps a confidential list of volunteer car spotters to assist day and continuous hikers. Contact the FLTC Service Center or the End-to-End Coordinator¬†to make arrangements to contact some of these volunteers.
Volunteers:¬†If you would like to volunteer to assist End-to-End hikers, please complete the Car Spotter Application (choose Word¬†or¬†PDF¬†format). Your contact information will only be shared with End-to-End hikers requesting specific assistance.
Car spotters (or Trail Angels) assist hikers on the Finger Lakes Trail in various ways.¬† Some meet hikers at a¬†pre-arranged spot and drop them off so that the hikers can hike back to¬†their vehicle. Some provide direct help to back packers such as a tenting spot, a meal, a dropbox¬†, laundry, a¬†place to sleep...¬† The list of car spotters specifies what each person wishes to offer the hiker.¬† The FLT yahoo group also provides assistance in various degrees.
